Delivery

All our stock is held in local warehouses in New Zealand.

Laybyland will usually dispatch your goods within 7 - 21 business days of completing your Layby payments.

This time frame factors in the confirmation of the Layby order include your payment method, processing and dispatch from the warehouse and the transport of the items via couriers. The \'In Stock \' status on our website can mean the stock is either in our warehouse, or available with our supplier.

Whilst we endeavour to get items delivered to you as soon as possible we do, however, need to allow that 7 - 21 business day window to accommodate the processes above.

Delivery tracking details will be emailed to the email address on the account as soon as they are known. Your goods must be delivered to the delivery address as shown on your initial order.

Deliveries require a signature on delivery and if no one is at the property to sign for the package a calling card will be left by the driver with details of how to arrange redelivery or collection.

If their are multiple items on your order, you may receive multiple deliveries shipped by multiple couriers since items may be sent from different warehouse locations.

Large/bulky items (eg furniture and whitegoods) may take longer to deliver and may also incur an additional freight fee. If an additional freight fee is expected for your order you will be contacted via email after the order has been successfully placed.

Returns

We guarantee your satisfaction with all layupshop.com/nz merchandise. If you receive damaged, defective, or incorrect item(s) from layupshop.com/nz, you may return the product(s) at no cost to you. Once we receive the item(s) and verify the return of product(s), we will send you a replacement or issue you a full refund, including shipping and handling.

Here's how it works:

  1. Browse our store and add what you love to your cart.
  2. At checkout, choose a payment plan that fits your budget—weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payments from 4 to 52 weeks.
  3. Once your last payment is complete, we arrange to ship your order.
  4. Prefer something shorter? You can also use PayPal – Pay in 4 for eligible purchases, breaking your total into four interest-free payments over six weeks.

Do I get my order straight away?

That depends on which payment method you choose:

  • If you're using LayUp's standard layby plan, your order will be shipped to you after your final payment is made. Just like a traditional layby, you pay your order off interest-free over time. Once your last payment is complete, we get your order ready for dispatch. It's a great way to manage your budget without the pressure of upfront costs.
  • If you choose PayPal – Pay in 4 we begin the shipping process right away, just like a traditional online purchase. PayPal pays us upfront, and you pay PayPal back over four interest-free instalments across six weeks. It's a handy option if you want to split your payment but still need your order quickly.

So, whether you prefer to pay over time and receive your item later, or want it shipped now and pay it off in four easy chunks, LayUp gives you the flexibility to choose what works best for you!

Can I have more than one layby going?

Yes, absolutely! You can set up as many layby orders as you like at the same time, as long as you're able to keep up with the payments. A lot of our customers use multiple laybys for different family members or upcoming events like holidays and gift-giving.

Just be mindful of your total commitments so it stays stress-free and manageable.

How do I know if my order was successful?

Once your checkout is complete, you'll see a confirmation screen with your order number. You'll also receive a confirmation email outlining:

  • Your selected items
  • Your payment method (LayUp plan or PayPal – Pay in 4)
  • Your payment schedule

Please review this email carefully and contact our friendly Customer Service team if anything looks off.

What payment plans can I choose?

You've got multiple options!

1. LayUp's flexible layby:

  • Choose weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payments
  • Set your plan duration: 4 weeks to 52 weeks
  • Pick your start date
  • The system will automatically calculate your instalments and estimated dispatch date.

2. PayPal – Pay in 4:

  • Available at checkout for eligible purchases
  • Pay in four interest-free payments over 6 weeks
  • No late fees, no interest
  • Great if you want to pay off your order faster without a long-term layby plan

You'll see both options at checkout and can choose what suits you best!

Can I cancel my order?

Yes, you can cancel your order any time before your second-last payment. To cancel, just email our Customer Service team with your order number and let us know.

  • If you cancel within 21 days of placing your order, there's no cancellation fee.
  • If you cancel after 21 days, a Cancellation Fee will apply. Find more specifics about this in our Terms and Conditions

If you haven't paid as much as the fee, don't worry—we won't ask you to pay more. You'll just forfeit what you've already paid.

Can I change my payment plan or items?

Yes! Life happens, and we want to make things flexible.

Change your payment plan:

You can adjust your payment schedule online through your account or reach out to Customer Service for help. You can increase or decrease your payment amount or change payment frequency.

Change items in your order:

You can update or swap items up to 4 times during your layby period. Just contact us to make the changes. Please note:

  • We can't make changes if there are less than 4 weeks left in your plan.
  • If you request more than 4 changes, there may be a small admin fee.
When are payments processed?

Your payments will be automatically processed at 12:01 AM AEST on your scheduled dates. Depending on your bank or PayPal, it might take until the end of the day to show up in your account.

Tip: Schedule your payment for the day after payday to make sure funds are available.

What happens if my payment fails?

We understand that sometimes payments can bounce—it's okay! If a payment is unsuccessful:

  • The amount is evenly spread across your remaining payments.
  • You can log into your account and adjust your plan manually if you'd prefer different instalments.

If you miss 3 payments in a row, your order will be placed on suspend, and the items will be removed from your allocation until you make your next successful payment. This could mean your items may not be available at the end, so it's important to catch up quickly.

If you're using PayPal – Pay in 4, PayPal will handle any failed payments directly. For assistance, please refer to your PayPal account or reach out to PayPal customer support.

Can I pay it off early or make extra payments?

Yes!

  • LayUp layby plans: You can make extra payments anytime by emailing our team with your order number, the amount, and your preferred payment date. Extra payments are limited to $499 per transaction, and laybys must run for at least 4 weeks.
  • PayPal – Pay in 4: If you are using this option, you can pay early or manage your schedule directly through your PayPal account.
When will my order be delivered?

Once you've made your final payment, we'll start getting your order ready. Please allow:

  • 7–14 days for most items
  • A bit longer for bulky items (like furniture or whitegoods)
  • Longer times during peak periods (like Christmas)

The estimated dispatch date shown during checkout is a guide, not a guarantee—so try to complete payments early if you need your order by a specific date.

Can I get Express Shipping?

Unfortunately, Express Post isn't available. Because we work with a wide network of suppliers and warehouses, we can't always control which courier is used or how fast the item can be delivered.

How will I know when my order has shipped?

You will receive two emails:

  1. A final confirmation once your last payment is made
  2. A dispatch email with tracking info

Please allow 24 hours for the tracking link to become active.

What if I am not home when my delivery arrives?

Most orders require a signature on delivery. If no one is home and there is nowhere safe to leave the package:

  • Your item will be taken to a local depot or post office.
  • You will get a notification to collect it.
  • Be sure to pick it up promptly extra fees may apply if redelivery is needed.
What if my parcel gets lost in transit?

It is rare, but if it happens:

  1. Contact us and the courier right away.
  2. We'll lodge an investigation, which can take 2–10 business days. The faster we hear from you, the sooner we can help resolve it.
Why can't I use a voucher code on gift cards?

Gift cards are not eligible for discounts, so any voucher codes will not apply to an order that includes a gift card. Feel free to use your voucher on another purchase!

What if the item price drops during my layby?

If the product you ordered is cheaper on our site when it ships, you will receive a Future Price Guarantee voucher for the difference.

  • The voucher is sent after your item is dispatched
  • Please note the terms of use and expiry date
Do you price match with other stores?

We do our best to stay competitive. If you find a cheaper price at another online layby store, let us know and we will see if we can match it!

Do your items come with warranties?

Yes, all items come with the same warranty you would get from the supplier or manufacturer. Warranty information can be found with the product details or will be included with your delivery.

What if my item is damaged when it arrives?

We are sorry if this happens! If your item is damaged, please contact us within seven calendar days of delivery so we can organise a repair or replacement.

Even if it is a gift for later, be sure to check the item when it arrives.

Can I pay through Centrelink/Direct Debit?

We currently do not offer Centrepay, so you will need to set up payments using a debit card, credit card, or PayPal.
