At LayUp, we make it easy to shop for the things you want and need—without paying everything upfront. Our layby service gives you the option to pay off your purchases over time in regular, interest-free instalments. Once your payment plan is complete, we'll ship your order directly to you.
You can choose how often you'd like to make payments: weekly, fortnightly (every two weeks), or monthly. You also have control over how long your plan runs—anywhere between 4 weeks and 12 months (up to 52 weeks or 26 fortnights).
We offer a variety of secure payment options:
- In Australia and New Zealand, you can pay using Visa, Mastercard, Direct Debit, PayPal or PayPal Pay in 4.
- In the United States, you can pay with PayPal or PayPal Pay in 4.
All prices will appear in your local currency:
- AUD for Australian shoppers
- NZD for New Zealand shoppers
- USD for shoppers in the United States
For each scheduled payment:
- The minimum amount is $5.
- The maximum per transaction is $499.
Once your final payment has been successfully processed, we'll start getting your order ready to ship!
Want your order sooner but still prefer to pay in smaller amounts? We also offer PayPal Pay in 4—a great alternative to layby available in Australia, New Zealand and the USA (subject to PayPal's approval).
This option lets you split your purchase into four interest-free payments over six weeks. Best of all, your order will be processed and shipped right away, just like a standard purchase. Here's how it works:
- You'll complete the first payment at checkout.
- The remaining three payments will be scheduled automatically.
- You'll still get to enjoy zero interest.
Please note:
- Orders made through PayPal Pay in 4 are not laybys, so your order won't be held until full payment.
- Approval for this service is managed entirely by PayPal, and eligibility can vary between countries.
- Your order will follow our standard shipping times of 7–14 business days for in-stock items.
We recommend reviewing PayPal's terms to understand what's involved in your region.
To use LayUp's layby service, your order must total at least $100 after any discounts or promo codes have been applied. This minimum applies across all regions—Australia, New Zealand, and the United States—and must be met in your local currency (AUD, NZD, or USD).
This policy helps us manage orders efficiently and ensures that we can continue offering flexible, low-cost layby plans to all our customers.
Once you've made your final layby payment, we'll begin preparing your order for delivery. Please allow between 7 and 14 business days for your items to be dispatched.
Delivery times may vary depending on:
- Your location (especially if you're in a regional or rural area).
- The type or size of item you've ordered (larger items like furniture may take longer).
- And stock availability.
We partner with reliable couriers in Australia, New Zealand, and the US to make sure your order gets to you as quickly and safely as possible. When you place your order, we'll provide an Estimated Dispatch Date—this is a helpful guide, but not a guaranteed shipping date.
If you're in a hurry, or ordering a large or specialty item, feel free to reach out to our Customer Service team for delivery advice.
If you're hoping to have your order delivered before Christmas Day (25 December), it's important to plan ahead!
To give our team and delivery partners enough time during the busy holiday season, you'll need to choose a final Estimated Dispatch Date of 1 December or earlier when setting up your layby. Orders with dispatch dates after this may not arrive before Christmas, even if your payments finish early.
We'll always do our best to get your order out quickly, but because of seasonal shipping delays, we recommend finishing your layby earlier rather than later if you're ordering gifts or time-sensitive items.
Your order will be shipped to the delivery address listed at the time of your final payment. If you've moved or need to send it elsewhere, make sure you update your address before the last payment is processed.
We'll send you a reminder email two weeks before your final scheduled payment, so you'll have time to check and update your details. If you wait until after the last payment, we may not be able to make changes, as your order could already be in the shipping queue.
We want your delivery to go smoothly—so keep your details up to date in your account or reach out to us if you need help!
At LayUp, we want to make your shopping experience as smooth and stress-free as possible. To help us do that, there are a few important responsibilities you have as a customer—these help ensure your orders, payments, and deliveries all go according to plan.
Keep Your Information Accurate and Up to Date
You're responsible for making sure all of the personal and payment information in your LayUp account is current and correct. This includes:
- Payment details – Make sure your credit/debit card hasn't expired, your PayPal account is active, or your bank details are correct (depending on which method you're using).
- Delivery address – If you move house or want your item delivered somewhere else, it's essential that your shipping address is updated before your final payment.
- Contact information – Your mobile number and email address should be valid and accessible so that we can send you reminders, order updates, and important alerts.
Incorrect or outdated details can result in missed payments, delivery delays, or even suspended orders—and we'd hate for that to happen.
You can update any of these details quickly and easily by logging into your LayUp account. If you have trouble doing this, our Customer Service team is always happy to help.
We want to keep you informed every step of the way. When you shop with LayUp, you'll automatically receive important account messages and occasional special offers via email and SMS.
These messages include things like:
- Payment reminders
- Shipping updates
- Order confirmations
- Discount alerts and promotions
If you'd prefer not to receive promotional messages, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link in any message or updating your preferences in your account. You'll still receive essential updates about your orders and payments.
One of the perks of layby shopping with LayUp is our Future Price Guarantee. If the item you're paying off drops in price before you finish your layby, we'll give you a discount voucher for the difference.
Here's how it works:
- The voucher can be used on your next order, not the current one.
- It's valid for 28 days from the day we issue it.
- You'll need to spend at least four times the voucher value (e.g. a $50 voucher needs a $200 cart).
- Apple products are excluded.
- After using the voucher, your order must still total at least $150 in your local currency (AUD, NZD, or USD).
While we try to ensure all items listed on our site are in stock, sometimes products become unavailable—either due to high demand or changes with our suppliers.
If this happens, don't worry. We'll get in touch with you to offer:
- A similar replacement item, or
- A full refund for the unavailable item.
You can decide what works best for you.
From time to time, LayUp offers pre-order products, which means you can secure an item before it's officially released.
Here's what to expect:
- Your layby must be fully paid and the item must be released before we ship it.
- Even if you pay early, we can't send the item until the release date.
- Estimated release dates may change due to delays from the supplier or manufacturer.
We'll always keep you updated on any changes. Pre-order items are clearly marked on our site and during checkout.
Your layby journey begins with an initial payment, which must be made within 7 days of placing your order. After that, your payments will be deducted automatically based on the frequency you selected (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly).
Payments are processed at 12:01 AM (your local time) on your scheduled days. If you need to skip or move a payment, just let us know by midday the day before it's due. Same-day changes aren't possible because of our automated processing system.
Changed your mind? No problem. You can cancel your layby within 21 days of placing your order and get a full refund—no cancellation fee.
After the 21-day period:
- A 10% cancellation fee applies to standard orders (capped at $200).
- For gift card-only orders, the fee is 6%, also capped at $200.
These fees help us cover processing costs and are charged in your local currency. Please contact our Customer Service Team for further assistance.
Need to shift your payments from one layby to another? We allow a one-time credit transfer per order.
Here's what to know:
- You can only transfer funds once per order.
- The credit must be used in full on the receiving order.
- If the new order is cancelled later, standard cancellation fees still apply.
- Once transferred, the credit isn't refundable again.
To arrange a transfer, just contact our friendly Customer Service team!
If you're owed a refund, we'll process it in your local currency (AUD, NZD, or USD) and send the money back to the same payment method you used.
Refunds usually take 7 to 14 business days, depending on your bank or provider. If your original account has been closed, we'll contact you for new details. In some cases, refunds may show up as multiple transactions or a lump sum.
Need more time? You can adjust your layby payment plan anytime through your LayUp account. You'll be able to:
- Change your payment frequency
- Push your final payment date out by up to 90 days
If you want to make changes before your second payment or after your second-last one, you'll need to reach out to Customer Service to help make those adjustments.
You're welcome to finish your layby early if you'd like to receive your order sooner. Just keep in mind:
- Layby plans must run for at least 4 weeks.
- After your last payment, please allow up to 28 days for dispatch.
Make sure your delivery details are correct before making your final payment to avoid delays.
If a scheduled payment doesn't go through, don't panic. The unpaid amount will be automatically spread out across your remaining payments.
You can log into your account to review and adjust these new amounts, or contact Customer Service if you need help. However, if you miss three payments in a row, your order may be temporarily suspended, and your items may be removed from allocation.
LayUp never charges fees if your payment fails. However, your bank or PayPal may charge their own dishonour or insufficient funds fees.
These charges are:
- Set by your bank or provider
- Not controlled or collected by LayUp
- Different depending on whether you're in Australia, New Zealand, or the US
To avoid any surprise fees, please make sure your account has enough funds on your scheduled payment dates.
To keep your account secure, we may occasionally ask for identity verification, especially if:
- Your payment or shipping info doesn't match
- You're placing a large order
- There have been multiple failed payments
We might ask you to send in:
- A photo ID
- A document confirming your address
- A screenshot or info confirming your PayPal or bank details
All your data is handled securely, and we follow the privacy laws of your country.
To help prevent misuse of our services, we may temporarily place a hold on your account if:
- You've had many cancelled orders
- You've missed several payments
- We notice unusual or risky account activity
While your account is on hold, you won't be able to place new layby orders until things are sorted. Our team is here to help you resolve any issues quickly.
If something's not right when your item arrives—like it's damaged, faulty, or not what you expected—please get in touch with us within 7 days of receiving it.
Depending on the situation, we'll work with you to:
- Arrange a repair, replacement, or refund
- Provide return shipping labels if needed
We follow local consumer laws:
- Australia: Australian Consumer Law
- New Zealand: Consumer Guarantees Act
- United States: Federal and state protection laws
Please note that we do not accept change-of-mind returns in any region so please choose carefully.
Every item you buy through LayUp is backed by the manufacturer's warranty, as well as consumer laws in your country.
You're responsible for taking care of your items once they arrive, including following any care instructions from the manufacturer.
If something goes wrong, you'll need to provide proof of purchase and possibly photos or details of the issue so we can help resolve it.
